TC exists to provide science backed strategies to prevent cancer growth.
My mission is to try and save or prolong our lives.
I am honoured to help people of all stages of their journey to make progress towards taking back control and living a long life.
My strategies range from focusing on helping people with a cancer diagnosis to those who have never had cancer.
Who is Dr Myfanwy Webb?
I am a scientist, mother and wife and I created my own personal anti-cancer therapy because I became desperate to do all I could to survive cancer.
The first tumour type I was diagnosed with in 2018, Triple Negative Breast Cancer is an aggressive one that doesn’t respond that much to chemotherapy. My end game is survival so I did everything I could… surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
The one thing left is ongoing chemotherapy and there is none for TNBC patients.
Pretty early on in the crap cancer year of treatment, I started researching. My research background helped me here (I graduated with Honours in Physiology & Pharmacology at University of New South Wales and worked at Prince of Wales Medical Research Institute).
I thought to myself, there may not be ongoing pharmaceutical therapy for me, but I have nothing to lose in devising my own therapy using what I can get my hands on.
I may not be able to get prescription ingredients but I can access natural compounds in herbal medicines.
The trick was, how do I know which are most likely to work?
This is where preclinical research holds the key.
I devised my own ongoing chemotherapy to use after I completed the process of surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. This is with the aim of stopping the cancer cells in their tracks by altering my physiology like pharmaceutical agents do.
My concept of making use of studies of mechanisms and natural compounds to combat cancer growth, I named this the Suppression-centric anti-cancer strategy. My colleague and I published this concept in the peer reviewed cancer journal Integrative Cancer Therapies. For a free PDF copy click here.
We made sure to select an open access journal to make it accessible to as many people as possible.
Now we don’t know yet if this strategy actually works to stop cancer.
Actually, we do now!
I have no recurrence of breast cancer but in 2020, I was diagnosed with melanoma in the scalp. Surgery and then a year of immunotherapy (Pembrolizumab) failed to work and in 2021 it had spread to my lungs.
I created my Treatment array of natural compounds and a few pharmaceutical drugs to combat the cancer while I waited for acceptance to an immunotherapy clinical trial.
I was successful in completely destroying one tumour and shrinking three others by 50%, plus preventing new ones from growing. See my scans below.
I attribute this tumour regression to my Suppression-centric Strategy.
In addition to this I devised my own anti-cancer strategies to minimise cancer growth fed from stress and diet. These strategies involve exercise, what I eat drink and think.
My Career Path
I hold a Conjoint Fellow position in the School of Medicine and Public Health College of Health, at University of Newcastle, Australia.
I completed Honours in Physiology and Pharmacology at the Prince of Wales Medical Research Institute before carrying out a PhD on the ecology and social behaviour of tropical rock possums. After finishing my PhD, I developed a health functionality rating system that was subsequently adopted by the government to upgrade indigenous housing. I then worked as a Research Scientist for the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) to create recombinant viruses and run virus transmission studies aimed at reducing house mouse plagues via immunocontraception. More recently I worked for the state health department (NSW Health) in mental health with a focus on suicide prevention. In the last two years after being diagnosed with cancer, I studied the growth mechanisms of an aggressive form of breast cancer and devised a potential new anticancer therapeutic strategy that exploits these pathways using natural compounds. Future scope for this suppression-centric anticancer strategy (SCANS) is in monitoring and manipulation of our microenvironment to potentially prevent recurrence and possibly prevent primary cancer occurrence in the future.
